Miller Mentoring offers virtual tutoring in different subjects. No matter what your student needs help with, they will leave our sessions with a better grasp of the material...and more confidence in their abilities.

How it Works

Students must have access to a computer with a camera, and high speed internet access.

Students will be provided with a Zoom Meeting ID and password from Jordi, or must provide a Skype or Google Hangout ID or a number that works for FaceTime as each session will be held in Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, or FaceTime.

Student should be in a quiet space for the session, which is why I recommend headphones to help drown out background noise and possible disruptions.

Students may email me pictures of their homework ahead of the sessions, so that we can both look at it during the session.

Also, logins to online textbooks should be readily available for the duration of the session, if necessary.

Most students prefer to write primarily on their own paper during our sessions.

I have an iPad and access to Microsoft OneNote so that students can see me writing and collaborate digitally if they also have an iPad.

Subject Tutoring

Before we start: Typically, I will talk to parents and/or the student to get an idea where they're at and discuss goals and realistic expectations of what we can achieve by working together.

First Session: I have the student show me what they are working on and we will do a few basic problems to get a baseline for where the student is at.

Following Sessions: In the following sessions, we will alternate between spending time going over lessons and materials, going over homework, and preparing for quizzes, tests, and midterms/finals. The student will primarily be working on their own as I also solve the problems, and then we will stop to discuss, clarify, and learn from mistakes.

After Each Session: I typically provide parents with an email/text progress report after each session, or the occasional phone call.

More in-depth discussion including phone call support about your student's needs will be subject to additional charges.

Standardized Test Prep

Before we start: Typically, I will talk to parents and/or the student to get an idea where they're at and discuss goals and realistic expectations of what we can achieve by working together.

First Session: I have the student take a diagnostic test in front of me, and I'll go over it with them. That way, we get a baseline for where the student is at.

Following Sessions: In the following sessions, we will alternate between spending time having the student take the test in front of me, going over the answers, and doing questions on their own. I provide the student with test questions and full diagnostic tests and typically assign homework as well.

After Each Session: I typically provide parents with an email/text progress report after each session, or the occasional phone call.

More in-depth discussion including phone call support about your student's needs will be subject to additional charges.
